Hellz Bellz S/S '09 "So Lolita"

Summer is just around the corner, although it feels like it's already here. Hellz Bellz brings us the hottest collection to date “SO LOLITA”.

The collection offers a variety of cut and styles to complete any females wardrobe including key staple summer looks, from a range of volume bubble skirts to edgy studded vest to the graphic tees synonymous to Hellz. Taking the construction of the line to new heights, Hellz revamped silhouettes and wear ability by providing light weight nylon jackets for a stylish look in comfort.

The collection is a lot more feminine this time round but still has that Hellz Bellz attitude, the girls at D2BY cant wait to get their hands on the "Gun It" dress.

Mai Sakuma

I recently created a photo shoot for contemporary jewellery designer Mai Sakuma.  I based the photo shoot on a childhood hero of mine Hajime Sorayama, the Japanese artist who paints beautiful robot girls he calls 'Gynoids'. After meeting Japanese designer Mai Sakuma i decided Sorayama was a theme that fit perfectly with her futuristic jewellery. To see more of Mai's designs click HERE.

A model shows one of Ryan's designs

Last night's shows by the University of Salford's fashion students at Manchester Town Hall exceeded all previous events for scale and talent - with one student, Ryan Houlton scooping the Best Collection Award that means his work will go on display in Harvey Nichols Manchester.

Ryan's collection 'Where is the honour?' (pictured) drew inspiration from themes of samurai culture and how it relates to current issues of knife crime and honour killing.

Top brands involved in the 2009 show included Clarins who supplied their top London HQ team for the make-up, and University partner Scholl who provided footwear for selected collections. Hair was by top North West hairdressers Barbara Daley and models on the day included faces from Boss Model Management.

Successful collections will now go on to show at Graduate Fashion Week, where, course tutor Bashir Aswat believes the Salford students will gain the attention of top industry recruiters.

Harvey Nichols supported the show and Salford's students by sponsoring Ryan Houlton's Best Collection award; providing the exclusive opportunity to showcase his collection for two weeks at their Manchester store.

Kaws x Sorayama

I was reading theartcollectors.com and came across a collaboration by two of my favourite artists, the figure collaboration between KAWS and Hajimie Sorayama. Based off the signature on the sketch, its clear this conceptual design was illustrated by Sorayama, however KAWS hinted to the project on his blog, noting the two had started working on the project a few years ago. The sculpture will be cast in metal and is a hybrid of the KAWS Companion with Sorayama’s Future Mickey Mouse (released by Medicom Toys).  No news yet on a release date, but price is rumored to be around $1,100.

Shall we wait for the next revolution?

I created a theme "Shall we wait for the next revolution"?  i will create 6 individual photo shoots surrounding the theme. I’m constantly fascinated by the fashion cycle and the new ways the garments are reinvented. Every era in fashion for example the 1920’s, 1940’s and so on. But it also gets a little tiring.

I was reading WAD magazine a French publication and read the title of a photo shoot “Shall we wait for the next revolution?” The shoot was by Bertrand le Pluard it was such a beautiful title that it inspired me to create my own images surrounding this concept.

I have loved Sci-fi and manga films for as long as I can remember. I grew up with my dad constantly drawing beautiful sketches of robots women that looked almost human. I wanted to use my inspiration from sci-fi and manga to create a new era of fashion a next revolution. All my shoots will be inspired by the future and progression.

Inspiration collages (above): Acid Rain, Aviatrix, New World, Prof. Hughes, Shape the Future and Sorayama.

A Piece of Cake

My favourite French fashion and lifestylemagazine WAD celebrates their 10th anniversary   . Teaming up with the likes of Converse, New Era and Fornarina, each brand is embodied in the form of a cake. With 10 years behind them, it was “All A Piece of Cake”.
